Winners of the fourth annual South Holland Business Awards
Four win the Apprentice of the Year
Pet to Vet, Tulip Radio and Woodlands Hotel were amongst the winners of this year's spectacular sell out South Holland Business Awards, held at the Springfield’s Events and Conference Centre in Spalding on Thursday 24 November.
Over 200 of South Holland's finest professionals were in attendance to celebrate the hard work of many local businesses who won awards including Business of the Year, Business Person of the Year and Outstanding Contribution award.
Now it its fourth year, the awards have become an annual key event - and something which many businesses across the area have been gearing up for in the hope of winning.
Guests enjoyed a sparkling drinks reception upon arrival, a delightful three course meal, live entertainment and of course, the award ceremony itself.
Phil Scarlett, Area President for the Spalding & District Chamber of Commerce spoke about the success of the evening saying: "The South Holland district area is full of talent and excellent service, and these awards provide a platform to recognise and showcase such work in an area which sometimes may go unnoticed in such a large county.
The talent in the area is so diverse that judging this year was notably challenging. After shortlisting 4 names for one of the categories, the judges found it difficult to decide as each one was worthy in their own right. As such, one category in particular received multiple winners".
Melvyn Prior, Morning Presenter from BBC Radio Lincolnshire kick started the evening's celebrations, before running through the categories and announcing the winners, shown at left.

Produce Supply Chain - South Holland is the best place to do business?
This report (PDF) produced by Spalding Chamber asks the question, "Where is the best place to operate a fresh produce business in the United Kingdom"?
We have taken the old "Garden of England", Kent and compared it with the new "Kitchen of England", South Holland, to illustrate just how good South Holland really is.
This takes into account the most practical and best cost effective total route to the Supermarket including the processing, packing, labelling, warehousing and distribution for non UK produced goods.
Simon Beardsley, Chief Executive of the Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce spoke of the awards saying: "This year the awards has gone from strength to strength thanks to the help of a brand new South Holland Business Award website, and a strong team of sponsors who helped make this year's event a sell out one. The Chamber are delighted to be representing all the shortlisted businesses and finalists this year and are excited to be here with them and helping them celebrate".
Also commenting on the success of the awards was Joe Verde, CEO of PSP IT who were this year’s headline sponsor. Joe said; “The South Holland Business Awards manages to become bigger and better each year thanks to the support of local sponsors. Yhis year it is most encouraging to see different faces and industries participating, and as local business continues to thrive we hope this will continue. PSP are delighted to be attending the South Holland Business Awards again this year especially as it coincides with the official launch of our newly completed Executive Conference and Training Centre. This new flagship facility will be a welcome benefit to the local business community as it showcases technology and comfort without the need to travel further afield. It has been a pleasure to be the SHBA headline sponsor for 2016 and to recognise excellence in local business.”
Phil Scarlett ended the evening on a high saying: "The awards themselves wouldn’t be possible without the support and generosity of our sponsors, and all the people who work behind the scenes to put together such an extraordinary evening. So a huge thank you from myself goes out to all those involved in making the evening such a success."
The Chamber would like to say a huge thank you to all sponsors on the night who included:
PSP IT as the main sponsor, Moore Thompson who sponsored the drinks reception, Duncan & Toplis who sponsored the Business Innovation of the Year category, Definitions Health & Fitness who sponsored the Supporting the Community Award, Ringrose Law who sponsored the Customer Care Award, Charmed Interiors & Bookmark who sponsored New/Small Business of the Year, University Campus Holbeach who sponsored the Apprentice of the Year, South Holland District Council who sponsored Business Person of the Year and Butters Group who sponsored Business of the Year.
